my dad already had the E=mc2 book. oh well…that means i’ll have to get him something else. there are a few more prospects…yes. that also means that i get to keep that book for myself. it looks quite interesting indeed.

my advisors want me to have a draft of my thesis proposal this week. we’ll see. i figure that the draft (which will end up being approximately v.0.9 of the final proposal) is currently at about v.0.7. so, right now i’m at about v.0.63 of the final proposal. v.0.9, though, is what i’ll give to them late this week, or whenever i get to that point. that’s not too bad, i guess. the proposal will end up being about 60% of the actual thesis…the final thesis document will probably not really be much longer than the proposal, with the exception of appendices for the programs i’ll write and the data i’ll collect…all of the associated work is what makes it 40% more than the proposal. yeah. that didn’t make a lot of sense.
the amount of work i still have to do on this project seems pretty overwhelming. but what am i doing? i’m sitting here, writing in this journal, rather than working on that (truthfully, though, without data - which i should get in the next couple of days - there’s not a whole lot more i can do for the proposal…i can just fine-tune the language and stuff, which is what i’ve been working on.)

liz and i watched Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan last night / this morning. it’s okay, but doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. first of all, the title is lame because over an hour of the (hour and a half long) movie takes place on a ship, rather than in manhattan. when jason and the passengers do arrive in NY, he doesn’t exactly take it. he was incredibly slimy-looking throughout the movie, though, so that was nice and gross.
liz and i discussed how up until this film, the continuity in the series was pretty good. not great, but pretty good. the movies tended to pick up immediately after the previous one left off. this one was no exception, but part 9 just sort of starts, independently of the ending of part 8.
part 9 isn’t called “Part IX” because of the fact that after part 8 came out, New Line bought the jason character from Paramount (the studio that made the first 8 films), but not the Friday the 13th name (i think they own it now, though). weird.
this also brings up the fact that i’m mildly (?) obsessive/compulsive…we have all of our DVDs alphabetized by title (if you think that’s bad, you should know that we have our CDs categorized by genre and then alphabetized by artist…the genres aren’t in alphabetical order…but maybe they should be). anyway, Friday the 13 parts 1-8 (we’re actually missing part 2 right now), of course, go in the Fs. but should parts 9 and 10 go there? they’re the 9th and 10th movies in the series, but they’re called Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday and Jason X, respectively. thus, they should go in the Js. but then the series is not in order (at least “J” comes after “F”…otherwise, i think i’d have a serious conundrum…heh). which is more important, alphabetization or series-in-order? i don’t know. does it really matter? probably not.

what do you think of my site? those few of you who actually look at this, i mean…leave comments-n-shit, if you wanna. if not, don’t worry about it.
this entry is really long.
