so today i turned 28. how have i celebrated so far? i’ll tell you.

i took yesterday off work even though i’d taken tuesday off and monday was a holiday. condensing 5 days of work into 2 was hard, but i seemed to have managed. yesterday afternoon, we went to a movie (Beerfest) with colin. it was pretty funny.

this morning, we woke up around 5am, ate some cinnamon toast, and headed over to klein high school, not too far from where we live, for a 5k run that started at 7:30am. it was called the “bearkat bash,” after the school’s mascot. what the hell is a bearkat? beats me. it was spitting rain, but that’s actually good weather for running. we just got back home. i finished the race in 34:07 (liz finished in about 33:22 minutes; she’s faster than me), which is a pretty large improvement over 36:29, my time from the 5k i ran at work in may. the fact that it’s not 90 degrees outside helped a lot, i think. anyway, the run was fun, as they always are, and i’m glad to see improvement in my times. aww yeah. my first 5k was 44:56 in november of 2004, so i’ve improved quite a bit in 1.75 years. (oh yeah, since i never posted about it because i’m lazy, i finished the half marathon last january in 2:49:26; i’m hoping to beat that next january). i never thought that i’d choose to get up at 5ish and go run 3 miles on my birthday, but i guess things have changed. heh.

anyway, now that the run is done, it’s time for a shower and then an egg sandwich (word), and then i’m going to open my presents from liz. after that, we’ll probably go to another movie since all seats/all shows before noon at the theater near us are $4; can’t beat that. after that, it’ll probably be a nap and then dinner at b.j.’s. it’s shaping up to be a pretty damn good birthday.

also, happy late birthday to my brother; he turned 30 yesterday. he’s so old! hahah. yes, our birthdays are a day apart. i tried to call him yesterday, but he was on the other line. in the message that he left when he called me back, he said that he was sorry he missed me and he’d been on the phone all evening because “everyone wants a taste.” heh.

so today is my birthday, and i’m 25. aww yeah.

festivities this friday…11ish in the PM. i’ll be sending out an e-mail about where, since i don’t know why, but i don’t feel comfortable posting it here. if you think you should be invited, but don’t get an e-mail from me, drop me a line and i’ll let you know where and such.

my birthday began at the radio station, since i have the 11-1 shift on monday nights. it was the first show of the semester, and the first time i’d worked with my new cohost. anyway, after the show, i came home, and liz was still awake. she’d decorated the apartment with streamers and several of our stuffed animals were on the couch (they still are) wearing party hats. she’s so cool…she also baked me a cake last night and iced it while i was gone. i’ll post pictures soon…

anyway, we then went to sleep. she went to work at 6am, and i slept until about 9:30 (though i woke up long enough to say goodbye). anyway, i played on the computer all morning, not really doing much of any import, and then i went to arby’s for a birthday lunch with my parents. i’m about to take off to go see liz at the new store, and from there we’re going to the mall to eat pretzels and so she can get something for her friend…and then it’ll be home and presents. aww yeah. and then naps. and then dinner at fazoli’s. and then friday, liz and i are going out to eat and then to the movies, and then to the aforementioned festivities.

it’s been a good b-day so far, and i’ll bet it will continue to be, even after it’s not my b-day anymore, like this friday.

yeah. anyway, i’m off to see liz and bug her at work.

EVENTS:

today was my birthday. i’m 20 years old. i feel a lot older, though. everywhere i turn, there’re younger-than-me faces. EVERYWHERE. maybe i should quit hanging out at high schools. just kidding.

i saw the Beastie Boys last weekend in fort worth. basically, they rocked nads. it was one of the two best (if not the best) show i’ve ever seen.

school’s going alright so far. not much really going on yet. no tests or anything so far, which is good, i think, since there’s been less than two weeks of class. my IE class is boring. blah. french is pretty cool. calculus III is alright…easy math so far, but half-way difficult concepts. chemistry is a repeat of the 2nd semester of the chem. class i took my sophomore year in HS. whee!

last tuesday (9-1) and yesterday (9-8), i went out to billiard’s (a bar) with some of the work crew cuz tuesday is karaoke night. the crew (as well as lots of friends of j3ph’s) go there every week, and i’ll probably be going quite often, too. i actually sang, which surprised everyone, even me. i actually enjoyed it, and though i first would only sing with a partner, i sang alone several times. i joined the karaoke club. they think i’m 22. that’s alright with me.

i talked to my friend uh-LEE-shuh (from high school) today. it was her birthday, too, but she’s a year younger than me. it was nice to talk to her. we kind of missed each other for most of the summer, cuz she had to go and leave the country. yeah. anyway, it was very nice talking to her.

i’ve been listening to a lot of led zeppelin lately (cuz j3ph keeps putting their cds aside for me when they come in used). they rock. aww yeah. i’ve also been listening to wyclef. he’s the man.

this semester’s gonna be alright, school-wise and in general.
